I know we all love facial massage. But why do we love it so much? Many of us get a facial to address skin concerns but end up falling in love with the facial massage. There is a very good reason for this. And it’s good for us.

Throughout our day and life, the fascia and muscles are translating our environment and emotions. These become trapped energy in our tissue causing an increase in the tone of our facial muscles (deep lines, wrinkles). This extended, prolonged tension intensifies negative neuropsychological states. For example, the frown lines that create the number 11″s on the forehead? Persistent tension in this area is sending messages to the brain that we are in a state of stress. Consistent massage breaks this cycle. By softening the tension, and releasing it we are able to cut that signal and create a new message of calm and relaxation.

There is a lot going on during a facial. We are not only clearing out stagnation and revitalizing the tissue. We are also encouraging a positive neuropsychological state of being.

I strongly encourage my clients to include gentle fascia release and MLD at home to build on these benefits. If you have questions on how to do this, I have tools to help you. I also have several options on my menu that are massage-based. Because, let’s be honest, it’s always better when you can be pampered by someone else.
